“Referbi was created to address a common pain point faced by small and medium-sized businesses — complex and costly referral systems. Our goal was to develop a simple yet powerful SaaS solution that enables businesses to launch referral campaigns quickly and affordably. By combining streamlined functionality with robust integrations, Referbi empowers businesses to drive growth through efficient referral marketing.”
Background
The idea for Referbi originated from a past experience with integrating enterprise-level affiliate marketing tools. While implementing FriendBuy for a client, the team realized that the software, though effective, was too expensive and complex for smaller businesses. This led to the conceptualization of Referbi — a streamlined solution that would deliver the same core functionality at a fraction of the cost and setup time. With this vision in mind, Intobi assembled a dedicated team in early 2022 to build the software from scratch.
From the outset, the project’s primary focus was simplicity and accessibility. Referbi’s objective was to create an intuitive referral marketing platform that allows users to launch campaigns in under 15 minutes. To achieve this, the team focused heavily on UI/UX design and user-centric development, ensuring that even non-technical users could easily configure and manage their referral campaigns. Customers loved Referbi and appreciated that setting up an account takes just 10 minutes.
Business challenges
- We needed to redevelop everything from scratch. The solution we devised required substantial changes to the code, so the best course of action was to invest in a complete rewrite of the processing.
- Traditional solutions often involved intricate setup processes, complicated dashboards, and a need for technical support to handle configurations. The challenge was reducing the complexity without compromising functionality, ensuring that the platform was robust yet straightforward to operate.
- Enterprise-level tools plans usually start at $2,000 per month, which is simply out of reach for most small businesses. We had to create a solution that offered similar functionality at a significantly lower price point without sacrificing essential features like campaign management, analytics, and integration options.
- Businesses must often test different campaign structures, such as multi-use versus single-use codes, varying reward triggers, and custom redirects. One of the main struggles was creating a system that allowed users to configure various campaign types without getting lost in configuration details.
Value delivered
- The platform’s user-centric design enabled small businesses to launch and manage referral campaigns without technical expertise. We reduced the complexity of setup processes and simplified workflows.
- With affordable pricing plans, Referbi allowed small and medium-sized businesses to leverage a marketing strategy typically reserved for larger enterprises. The lower price point was combined with powerful features like automated reward management and campaign analytics. Thus, we still provided a high return on investment for users.
- Seamless integration into popular e-commerce platforms like Shopify and WooCommerce enabled users to manage their referral campaigns without leaving their store’s admin interface. Instead of juggling multiple tools, business owners could now handle all their referral marketing needs from a single dashboard.
- The comprehensive campaign management tools allowed businesses to create highly customizable referral programs, experiment with different configurations, and refine their strategies based on real-time feedback. Users could test various reward triggers, modify campaign rules, and personalize every aspect of the referral experience.
- The robust .NET-based backend architecture ensured the platform could handle thousands of concurrent users, thus supporting businesses as they scaled. With advanced reporting tools and detailed analytics, users gained valuable insights into their campaigns, enabling data-driven decisions.
