Background
Our collaboration with Auto Nagel began in early 2024 with the goal of creating a scalable SaaS platform that integrated seamlessly with their operational needs and included logistics and document workflow management.
Auto Nagel approached us at Intobi with the ambition to transform their digital infrastructure into a robust, integrated platform. Their existing system was fragmented and lacked the functionality needed to support the expansion of their eCommerce operations and efficient document management.
The need for a unified platform capable of handling logistics, accounting, and driver management was paramount to maintaining and growing their competitive edge.
Our first task was to extend their development team with a skilled developer capable of adapting quickly to Pimcore, an open-source enterprise PHP platform. Although new to Pimcore, we invested time and resources into mastering it, allowing us to meet Auto Nagel’s requirements.
Business challenges
- The existing system experienced significant limitations in handling complex document workflows and logistical management. The inefficiencies in document creation and organization processes led to errors and prolonged the overall task completion time. The platform’s fragmented nature affected seamless integration between eCommerce functionalities, logistics tracking, and document management.
- Scaling eCommerce operations posed challenges due to the need for advanced functionalities, such as role-based access and streamlined purchasing processes, which were not fully supported by the legacy system. This limited the platform’s ability to expand its product offerings and adapt to user expectations effectively.
- Managing transportation logistics and driver activities required tools that were lacking in the existing system. The absence of comprehensive solutions for real-time tracking and driver management created operational bottlenecks. Integrating accounting processes with logistics operations was complex, making financial management cumbersome.
- The platform lacked a unified approach, with separate modules for different operations. This fragmented setup made it difficult to manage and track activities across eCommerce, logistics, and document workflows cohesively, reducing overall business efficiency.
Value delivered
- The system was transformed to integrate comprehensive document management, logistics tracking, and eCommerce capabilities. We developed a custom document builder using a robust API and custom coding, enabling administrators to create, manage, and analyze complex documents through an intuitive interface. Thу tool reduced errors, accelerated document workflows, and provided valuable analytics for tracking usage and performance.
- A scalable eCommerce platform was designed to support an expanded range of automotive products. The platform integrated role-based access control and advanced purchasing workflows to facilitate a seamless user experience while maintaining high security.
- We implemented logistics and driver management modules for real-time tracking of driver activities and logistics operations. The development of a dedicated driver portal provided a centralized interface for drivers to access job details, earnings, and essential documents, enhancing communication and operational efficiency. Additionally, an integrated accounting module simplified financial transaction management, aligning with the logistics tools for a cohesive process.
- The platform was designed using a modular architecture, leveraging technologies like Symfony, GraphQL, and Docker. This structure ensured the solution was adaptable and maintainable, supporting future growth and feature integration. Automated deployment workflows using GitLab CI/CD and Deployer allowed for rapid updates and continuous integration, further solidifying the platform’s resilience and scalability.
